Emma Gorge 21/6

Nice to sleep in today and got up at 6:30am, still adjusting to WA time most days we go to bed around 7:30 – 8:30( it gets dark here around 5:30) and we get up most mornings anytime from 5:30 – 6pm.

When on Emma Gorge walk today left nice and early before the tour bus start coming in, started walk around 7:30

Nice easy walk for 3.6km to Emma Gorge waterfall.

Went for a swim to the waterfall and the water was freezing cold, found a nice hot spring to the left coming out of the rock, had to climb a little bit up to enjoy the warmer water.

After the walk enjoyed a swim at Emma Gorge resort pool and relax for a little bit.

Then went back to our campsite had lunch, walked around the campsite and then back to the river where the boys tried there luck again fishing and the girls went kayaking.

Had jatz & nibbles with a family that we met the first night here from Perth, they have been joining us each night at the campfire.

Dinner – lamb chops & mashed potato

Weather – 13°- 29°

El Questro gorge 20/6

Headed down to zebedee hot springs around 7:30 this morning. Water temp around 28° – 31° stayed there for about an hr relaxing, while the kids played.

Then headed off to do the El Questro Gorge walk, we where just going to walk to the half way pools, but as it was soo nice decide to keep going all the way to the waterfall a total of 4.6km of climbing over large boulders and up cliffs and swimming in sections to get to the waterfall.

A

After the walk Everyone was tried out and my legs now fill like Jelly.

( sorry no photo of the waterfall as took photo on my waterproof camera)

The waterfall was stunning and had a nice deep pool that u could swim in and we couldn’t touch the bottom.

Then we had lunch at Jackaroo waterhole. Didn’t swim there as all to tried, just feed the fish and turtles.

Then went back to camp, kids and I went for a kayak along the pentecost river while William and Adam went fishing.

El Questro 19/6

Left Lake Argyle at 8:10am

Stopped in at Kununurra and resuppled getting ready for Gibb river rd, as will be 2 weeks with no major shops, had to hang around to 12pm as the bottle shop didn’t open until then.

Arrived at El Questro at 2pm

Had to cross 2 river crossing to get to the campground.

We where going to get a nice private camping site along the pentecost river, but the site turned out not to nice at all, as did not have access to the river and no swimming or fishing allowed.

So stayed in the main camping area and our camp site is only 200m from the river where the kids r able to swim.

Adam & kids where happy to have a fire.

Weather – 17°-31° little bit cooler here and had to get our jumper out once the sun went down.

Dinner- hamburgers

Lake Argyle 17/6

Went for a walk this morning down Jessie’s trail to bamboo cove, only a 500m walk but very steep, took our fishing gear with us and stay for a couple of hours fishing and swimming.

Had a floating pontoon in the middle that you could swim out to and jump off.

William caught the fish fish of the day, just under 30cm long catfish.

Then April was next, also a catfish on her hand reel.

Then Jasmine caught a snooty grunter

Then we went for a drive out to a lookout which is 4wd only and the view was absolutely stunning.

Kununurra 15/6

William woke really early this morning before 6pm and begged to go fishing, he had only been fishing for 10min and caught his first fish for this trip. Found out that he was a Long Tom.

Adam also wanted everyone to know that he also caught a fish (Sooty grunter). He was telling me that it weighted 4.5kg. For some reason I don’t believe him.

After breakfast we headed out to Kelly Knob lookout, which gives u a view over Kununurra.

Then headed into town and saw the local market where on, had a look around, we didn’t buy anything expect morning tea.

Headed back to the caravan park, william did some more fishing, and the other went for a swim in the pool.

I went for a kayak along the river.

Wyndham 14/6

Did a day trip out to Wyndham with the Bradley Family.

Left at 9am. First stop at Molly Springs, nice to see plenty of water it in and everyone was happy that they where able to go for a swim.

Second stop was at the Grotto, not much water in it at the moment so didn’t go for a swim here.

Then headed into Wyndham and stopped at the giant crocodile.

Then had lunch at five river lookout where you can see five mighty Kimberley rivers meet and flow into the ocean.

Then headed down to the Jetty’s below.

William said he saw some crabs and jumped of the jetty for a closer look, but instead jumped and slip into the mud.

Ended the day at Hoochery Rum distillery and had the rum tasting palate, which was trying 6 different rum’s. My favorite was the mango spiced rum.

William sad to have to say goodbye to Sonny.

Ivanhoe crossing 13/6

Had bacon & eggs for breakfast while watching the sunrise over the Lake.

Then did 2 loads of washing, adam cut his hair & William’s and due to being so hot stored away all our winter clothes in the roof top bag.

Then went for a drive to Ivanhoe Crossing.

Which took us to middle springs and black rock springs, but sadly not enough water in them to go swimming.

So took the kids to swim beach park, where they could have a swim in the Lake

Had jatz and cheese while we watched the sunset over the Lake back at our campsite.

Then saw the crocodile again right in front of our campsite.

Kununurra 12/6

Left Bungle bungles at 8:40

Took as 1hr 30mins to do 64km to get out of the Bungle bungles

Started to see many boab trees along the highway.

Arrived at Kununurra at 1:40pm, setup camp

Jasmine and I went into town to resupply and met a Family from Alice springs that we meet on our first trip 2 years ago. ( Rachel, Matt and there son Sonny) so invited them to our campsite for dinner.

While I was gone Adam & the kids had a swim in the Lake and then the pool.

Watched the sunset over the Lake

Then had a BBQ dinner with the Bradley Family.

After dinner we saw our first fresh water crocodile in the Lake the kids where swimming in earlier.
