Darwin 1/7

Happy Northern Territory Day 😀🎆

Left Katherine at 9am & traveled 301km to Darwin arrived at freespirt resort at 12pm, they advised our cabin will not be ready until 2pm. So used the camp kitchen to have lunch then we all had a swim in the resort pool.

Found a 2nd hand campertrailer for sale on gumtree not far from where we r staying so arranged to go have a look, on the way Adam stopped to buy some fireworks ( can only buy fireworks on NT day & they are for sale everywhere)

Not really sure about the camper trailer so will keep looking around.

Insurance broker called & said that most likely the trailer will be a written off and they will know defently know tomorrow.

Went into darwin waterfront via bus

Had pizza for dinner, while listening to live music and waiting for the fireworks to start.

Kids where happy to end the evening with icecream

Off to Katherine 29/6

Left Kununurra at 9:30am

Drove along the Victoria hwy 531km, not much to see along the way.

Arrived at Katherine at 4:30pm ( lost 1.5hrs due to time difference with crossing the boarder)

Kids had swim in the pool at the caravan park which was freezing cold.

Then went to the top pools at Katherine Hot springs and had a swim, enjoyed the warmer water.

Kids happy to have a TV in the cabin, we watched toy story 3 , then spiderman.

Kununurra town caravan park 28/6

Only able to stay 1 night at Kununurra discovery park, so rang around and only cabin available in Kununurra town caravan park.

Before we left the discovery park kids played in the pool while I caught up with the washing.

Spoke to my insurance broker and he advised that they are now taking the camper trailer to Darwin to be assessed, and should arrive there on Tuesday 2/7

Kids sleeping arrangements in the cabin at Town caravan park.

Dinner- pork ribs, mashed potato & veges

Back to Kununurra 27/6

Spoke to insurance broker first thing in the morning he advised that tow company will be at drysdale station Saturday morning to pick up trailer and take it to Katherine to be assessed.

As not much to do at drysdale station & it’s hot & dusty decided to drive back to Kununurra and stay there for a couple of night before heading off to Katherine to find out the out come of our trailer.

Jasmine took photo of our truck heading off to the tip, as unfortunately both kayaks where damaged in the accident.

Left station at 12:30pm and arrived at Kununurra discovery park at 4:30pm ( total of 353km)

Stuck at drysdale Homestead 26/6

Left drysdale station at 8:20am

Only travel 63km going towards king Edward Falls and sadly rolled our trailer.🙁

We went around a blind corner & there was a tour bus in the middle of the road, Adam swerved to the left and the trailer dropped into a ditch, it rolled and snapped the hitch.

Happy that everyone is safe & our truck isn’t damaged.

Adam changed the wheel & Bush mechanic the hitch so we could tow it back to drysdale homestead.

Spoke to insurance company and lodged a claim.

Stayed in cabin tonight at drysdale homestead cost of $250 per night with nothing included

Drysdale Station 25/6

Left Home Valley Station at 8:05am

Travelled 112km to Elenbrae Station

Gibb river rd not as bad as everyone has been saying and able to travel at around 80km per hr.

Had scones for morning tea at Elenbrae Station as didn’t take that long we kept going to drysdale station another 135km away and arrived here at 12:40.

Setup and then when for a swim down at the river, as the water was freezing cold we didn’t stay in for long.

Relaxed around the campfire & as no moon, able to see more stars then we have seen ever before.

Dinner – chicken schnitzel & mashed potato

In the afternoon we went for a very short walk to cockburn rangle lookout

Home Valley 23/6

Left El Questro Station just after 8am

Travelled only 50km to Home Valley

The road wasn’t that bad at all and only took an hr to get to Home Valley Station.

Set up and saw the same family that we meet at El Questro.

Had a swim in the pool & a game of volleyball with the Donnelley Family.

Had hot chip & bread for lunch by the pool.

Then went for a short walk to bindoola Falls (no water over the falls only a pool of water at the bottom)

Then did a second walk to nyarli Lagoon and I saw a baby crocodile.

Finished the day by watching state of Orgin on the big screen outside next to the bar.

Bronco’s lookout 22/6

When for a drive out to Bronco’s lookout.

Had a long rocky watercrossing that we had to cross to get to Bronco’s lookout took us about 10mins

Then a very steep drive up the mountain.

Then we went for a 20km drive along a dirt 4wd track to get to explosion gorge, no swimming allowed here due to saltwater crocodiles.

Went down a couple of dirt tracks to see if we could find any good watering holes.

Found a nice fishing hole but unfortunately didn’t catch any fish.
